Dr. Mindy Homer
Dr. Mindy Homer is a board certified pediatric dentist. Dr. Mindy aims to provide the highest quality of dentistry to your child and to make the experience free of anxiety and fun for the whole family. As a children’s dentist, Dr. Mindy believes in educating parents and children in the prevention of cavities. She understands that each family and child is not the same and provides individualized treatment plans to address each child’s unique needs.
She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree with an emphasis on child psychology and biology from the University of Miami. She earned her Doctorate of Dental surgery from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. During her dental training, she demonstrated a natural ability to connect with children and was the only dental student in her class to be accepted into a post-graduate pediatric dental program. She earned her certificate of specialty in pediatric dentistry at the prestigious Columbia Presbyterian Children’s Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Mindy maintains her affiliation with Columbia University by lecturing to the Pediatric dental residents. In addition, she is an attending at Schneider’s Children’s Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center. She instructs the residents, aids in honing their clinical skills and works with them to provide dental care to underserved children. The hospital recently honored Dr. Mindy with the “Attending of the Year Award” as recognition for her commitment to both the residents and patients. Her affiliations continue by actively participating in the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Association and the Nassau County Dental Society.
Dr. Mindy and her husband, Glendon, and their beautiful daughter, Scarlett Vail, reside in Brooklyn. They pursue an active lifestyle. They enjoy sailing, snowboarding, mountain biking and running. Dr. Mindy ran the 2008 and 2010 NYC marathon and raised thousands of dollars for Team for Kids, a charity whose goal is to combat childhood obesity by initiating active school programs. She continues to run for Team for Kids, Autism Awareness and the Wild Life Conservation Organization. Keep an eye out. It is not uncommon to see her running around town.
